A teenage prank was behind massive Twitter hack, report says – New York Post

A Twitter hacking scheme which targeted high profile users such as Elon Musk and Barack Obama began as a prank between a group of three hackers, according to a report. The biggest attack in the social media platform’s history began with a user named “Kirk” who bragged to two teenagers that he worked at Twitter and could access even the most high profile accounts, according to The New York Times. One of the teens lived in the US and went by the online name “lol,” and the other, who lived in the UK, used the online name “ever so anxious.” The UK-based teenager denied working with “Kirk” to take over accounts belonging to Joe Biden, Bill Gates and others. The hackers posted messages on the accounts suggesting followers make thousands in bitcoin “donations.” “Based on what we know right n...

Retire Better: Seniors who rely on dividend income may be in for some lean times

Back in January 2020 B.C. (Before Coronavirus), it looked like it would be a banner year for dividend investors. Payments to shareholders were expected, for the first time, to top $500 billion. “It would take a major event to stop a record for this year,” Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices, told The Wall Street Journal as the year began. Oops. Now, thanks to the pandemic and resulting economic collapse — U.S. GDP fell at a 5.0% rate in the second quarter and could plunge at a mind-blowing 39.5% pace according to the Atlanta Federal Reserve — companies have been chopping dividends left and right. In the first quarter of the year, S&P said that companies in its benchmark index cut dividends by $5.5 billion. But payouts really fell off the cliff in...

In COVID-19’s Wake, the New Normal Creates Crypto Opportunities

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for everyone, but it has created many opportunities for us in the blockchain industry. In most industries, sales vectors are declining, as bankruptcies and layoffs rule the day. But companies in the crypto and blockchain space have been expanding, hiring and applying for new licenses.  The pandemic has caused suffering in this industry, as in others, but the fundamentals of crypto are better than those of traditional financial markets. We will experience some reshuffling, but the crypto and blockchain industry will become stronger through this crisis. Newmarket participants are looking for derivative and margin products, and they’re increasingly looking to trade on their phones and mobile applications.  A second wave The next wave of CO...

ANALYSE WITH ME– A Practical Approach to Technical Analysis.

ANALYSE WITH ME – A Practical approach to Technical analysis We started the Classroom training programs in 2006 with my mentor N S Fidai doing the major part of the training and me focusing only on the speed analysis and how to use software sessions. After a few years we both could do the full 2 days training programs ( its exhausting to talk for 16-18 hours in 48 hours.). It was always a batch of maximum 10 people and the course fees used to Rs 14000 in 2006-2007 and is the same till date. The major reason for us to do the course is it helps us get better in analysis and trading as we get to learn from participants of varied age profile, work profile, professions, experience etc In the first 5-7 years of the training programs we used to allow participants to drop into the office to analy...

Slate Office REIT: The 11% Dividend Yield Remains Fully Covered

Introduction Slate Office REIT (OTC:SLTTF) is a Canadian office REIT that has seen its share price drop by about 30% since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. As Slate is maintaining a monthly dividend at 3.33 cents per unit (C$0.40 per year), the dividend yield has now increased to 11%. This could mean two things: Either Slate’s share price is undervalued, or the dividend will have to be cut. Data by YCharts The equity of Slate Office consists of normal units and Class B LP units which can be converted to normal units on a one-for-one conversion basis. Given this conversion feature, I prefer to include the B units in the share count (although they are technically a liability until they are effectively converted). As such, I will assume Slate has 73.3M units outstanding, consisting of nor...

Tesla’s prayer for profit, earnings tests for Intel and Microsoft highlight first big week of coronavirus-tainted earnings – MarketWatch

S&P 500 components have posted a 47.4% decline in second-quarter profits with nearly 9% of reports issued. Analysts model a 44% earnings decline for the index as a whole, taking into account already-reported results and estim...

Leading private lender HDFC Bank on Saturday said the ongoing slowdown may lead to a rise in the number of customer defaults and consequently an increase in provisions. While announcing its June quarter results, the lender said. "Continued slowdown in economic activity has led to a decrease in loan originations, the sale of third party products, the use of credit and debit cards by customers, the efficiency in collection efforts and waiver of certain fees." However, the bank managed to report better-than-expected financial results amid the ongoing uncertainty due to Covid-19 pandemic. UnitedHealth: A Winner In These Times, But Shares Are Expensive

Shares of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) fell by about 1.5% on Wednesday as investors digested the company's earnings release, which was better than expected. While Q2 results were solid, the company's decision to maintain full-year guidance was a disappointment, given the weak second-half implied. Even though I suspect the company is being conservative and can exceed that guidance, shares appear fully valued. In the second quarter, UNH earned $7.12, nearly $2.00 ahead of consensus, while revenue of $62.1 billion was $1.4 billion light. Adjusted earnings were nearly double last year's results (UNH's financial results can be accessed here). Operating earnings rose to $9.2 billion from $4.7 billion, sending the net margin to 10.7% from 5.4%. Ironically in the short term, health insurers are ...
